round white compass

So it seems I’m forced to take stock of where I am, by this flu-ish virus. Four people in this household are down with the same thing, including Amy and Jasmin, so I’m stuck home. Four days gone. The doldrums, as it were, the sails slack.

Inda was a blessing – it was, to me, this past week, The Princess Bride for grownups. Swordfights, pirates, true love (perhaps). I haven’t cared for a character in a fantasy book so much since Ged in the Earthsea cycle, and that was a decade ago. The extent of the political and cultural world-building reminded me of The Left Hand of Darkness, but Inda was sort of Ged and Ender (and Eilonwy! – without the sarcasm) all at once, and more. I haven’t started on Fox yet, but I wanted to pause and fix in my memory how he was as a boy.

And catch up on work, too. I don’t know where to begin yet, but first I need to get rid of this headache. Amy is pitching a fit downstairs, resisting Nana and her nap, but I have to keep out of sight or she won’t rest at all.

Had a talk with Josh last night, about self-set markers next year, and it was a relief to talk options and pivots.  I have to keep in mind that nothing is absolute, even whys and hows. For as long as my Who is constant, this wand’ring bark shall not be lost.
