I’m combining my two current projects – 25 MTW and LUE into one big hairy ambitious monster – The Memex Project.

While the cellar door has served its purpose well, it falls short when it comes to things beyond fandom and navel-gazing. I ought to gaze at the stars more. (And maybe at the gutter sometimes.)

TMP has been has been brought to you by BrainPickings and Guru Paul Catiang.

I ought to have a declaration of principles here.
1. Consume less, process more.
2. Reference less, create more.
3. Discover and digest independently.
4. Value quality of insight, knowledge, and wisdom over quantity of information.
5. Less sarcasm and irony, more genuine interest.
6. Real-life inclusion and participation: “the art of conversation, of looking at people, of being seen, of being present”.
7. Invest and give.

Now, principles to action.
1. Identify what I consume and why, then trim down to the essentials. Identify my processing method, use it and improve on it (see #4).
2. Outlets: 25 MTW. Dakila. Human Nature. 51Mat.
3. Evaluate how I discover information, find alternative sources (travel! enroll in a class!), personal reflection before soliciting others’ opinions.
4. Monitor, document, and evaluate (review M&E).
5. Don’t collect/consume unless I really, really, enjoy it.
6. Take time to share ideas and opinions (rather than just events and experiences) with life allies.
7. Teach and publish when possible.

This week and the next, I’ll be working on #1 & #3. To be documented on 25 MTW. I don’t think I’ve ever said this before, but I’m really looking forward to my year-end review.
